PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 NICOTINE CONTROVERSY

As I sit here writing, I have to take a drag.
I cannot work without a smoke, even if you nag.
I wish I’d never started, and don’t know when I’ll quit.
I have to have one all the time, especially while I sit.

I’ve worn the patch and chewed the gum,
Then smoked and smoked until I’m numb.
It doesn’t seem to matter, that I will probably die
From lung disease or cancer, as to myself I lie.

I watch the smoking controversy going on today,
And wish tobacco companies would finally lead the way,
To set controls upon themselves, to save our nation’s health,
Instead of keeping up the farce, that helps them maintain wealth.

I can’t believe our government won’t stop the smoking gun.
When we finally close them down, we’ll know that we have won
The war against tobacco.   'Cause they won’t be around,
For me to buy, for me to smoke, for me to put out on the ground.
